EC Nutrition is owned and operated by Hugh Davoren, a New Zealand Registered Dietitian who has been practising for over 20 years. Hugh
began his career as a Chef and trained to become a Dietitian when he became more interested in what was in the food and how it affected our health rather than how to cook it.
He spent 6 years honing his skills in some of the UK’s top hospitals before returning to New Zealand to take up a position as Nutrition Support Dietitian at Auckland City Hospital. In 2018 Hugh moved back to his home town of Gisborne. Being one of the few male Dietitians in the profession, he brings a unique perspective to nutritional issues for both men and women. After qualifying he worked in Northland for a year before heading to the UK where he spent 6 years working in some of the top hospitals, gaining a wide variety of clinical skills and experience. Upon returning to New Zealand he took up a Nutrition Support role at Auckland City Hospital, continuing his experience in intensive care (ICU) nutrition, intravenous nutrition (IVN/TPN), and nutrition before and after gastrointestinal surgery and organ transplants. The most rewarding experiences were seeing people returning to being able to enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures, eating.
Being a keen surfer and family man, Hugh moved back to his home town of Gisborne in 2018.
